Is radio dying: Podcasting and MP3 as disruptive technologies

Podcasting, like TIVO for your MP3 player, is to radio, as MP3 is to the CD. Podcasting drastically lowers the barriers to entry for "radio like" programming and makes niche oriented programming more profitable. Mediarica founder, Dr. Ron Suarez and B2B music industry consultant Dick Huey of Toolshed will discuss new business models for new media.

The response of big record labels to sagging CD sales has been to sue 12 year olds. No other industry has shown as much disdain for their customers as has the music industry. Imagine if Ford Motor began suing car owners? Maybe there are new ways for record labels to produce revenue for their artists while simultaneously cutting out the "bureacracy tax" imposed on music by the big labels.

Come and hear in non-technical terms what Podcasting is, explore emerging business models for independent labels and artists and give us your feedback during Q&A.

Independent label managers are encouraged to still apply to join our panel - use the contact form at Mediarica.com.
