WDP Media Committee
As Ron hears from Marcy and others as to what they want in public there will be much more here soon and sub-folders can be secure and private.
Blogs
As a subset to the publicity activities, the media committe talked about encouraging folks to blog. Wendy asked for some links to political blogs. These are just a few—but the first three have “blog rolls” (on the right for the last one, on the left side for the next two) that provide links to other progressive blogs.
DailyKos Now gets as much traffic as some cable news shows. Explicitly partisan, this provides general interest political blogging. If you sign in and wait a bit, you can post “diaries,” which is a good way to get started blogging.
Eschaton This also gets a tremendous amount of traffic. It is representative of the irreverent attitude that blogs are famous for.
MyDD This is a somewhat more wonky blog focusing on strategy and the like. Like DailyKos, it offers users the ability to write diaries.
Talking Points Memo Josh Micah Marshall is a “real” journalist, so from time to time his blog offers scoops. It is particularly worth checking out now, though, because Josh has been focusing almost exclusively on identifying where legislators stand on Bush’s Social Security plan—this has contributed significantly to pressuring moderate Democrats and Republicans to announce their opposition to the plan.
Media Matters for America David Brock, a former GOP hack writer, started this site to correct the misinformation propagated by right-wing media outlets. It is particularly valuable for monitoring conservative TV and radio broadcasts (which aren’t as easy to track as print or internet sources) to document some of the things being said.
The Value of Truth Ron Suarez (A3Roots and Democracy for Washtenaw webmaster started this blog to debunk republican spin. Ron can help advise you on how to do your own blog.
